The Moehau can only be described as one of the most spectacular challenges on the Multisport calendar. Set in the rugged Northern Coromandel Peninsula it is one of New Zealand’s best kept secrets and only 2 1/2 hours from Auckland.
The race is named after the highest point on the Coromandel Peninsula, Mount Moehau, 2,935 feet above the oceans that surround it.
This 54km Off Road Tri race is designed for triathletes who want a taste of multisporting without the kayaks or simply want to get off road. The race comprises of 4 stages including a 1.5km sea swim, 2 mountain bike stages totalling 41km and an 11km trail run. The event is expected to take between 3 3/4 hours and 6 hours.
Stage 1 Sea Swim 1.5km Waitete Bay;
2 Mountain Bike 22km Waitete Bay to Waikawau Bay;
3 Trail Run 11km Waikawau Bay to Kennedy Bay;
4 Mountain Bike 19km Kennedy Bay to Coromandel Town;
