Porirua Grand Traverse

The Porirua Grand Traverse takes participants of all age, ability and aspiration on a scenic and challenging tour through iconic landscapes from high country farmland to native bush and rugged coastlines.

The Porirua Grand Traverse is a unique event. The Avanti Plus Porirua Mountain Bike leg (33k) takes riders over some of the highest land in the Porirua Basin with views over Wellington and Porirua harbours, as well as the South Island.
The Mountain Run (18k) is spectacular and 97% off-road through native bush, open farmland and beaches with awesome views over Cook Straight to the South Island and Kapiti Island.
The Kayak section (10k) is serene, but with the odd sea breeze, sand bank, tidal eddies, and swells on Puatahanui Inlet and Porirua Harbour, you need your wits about you.
