In the Daintree region, Mount Lewis Forest Reserve protects upland rainforests and a variety of rare and threatened wildlife, including the golden bowerbird, southern cassowary, Mount Lewis spiny cray, lemuroid ringtail possum and Daintree River ringtail possum.
