Hosted by the Waitemata Canoe and Multisport Club, the South Head Challenge is situated at Lake Ototoa, about one hour from central Auckland on the South Head of the Kaipara Harbour.

This stunning location provides a multisport challenge that is a fast pace hit-out for top athletes and the ideal race for first timers; kayaking on Lake Ototoa and entering the northern end of Woodhill Forrest for the mountain bike and run. The compact central transition area means a support team is optional as all stages start and finish at the reserve

The event details are:
11KM Kayak on Lake Ototoa
26KM Mountain Bike through the northern section of Woodhill Forest
10KM Run off-road through Woodhill Forest
This is a very achievable race for first time multisporters. Join our club and get into training now with a great group of like minded athletes ready for the 31st of October.

The South Head challenge is the first race in the Auckland Multisport Championship series, which is a three-race series during November.
Once you've tackled the South Head Challenge (47KM), you have 2 weeks to get ready for the next race in the Auckland Multisport Championship series - Rodney Coast Challenge (73KM), this is a step-up in terms of distance but still a very achievable race. With two weeks to recover you will be well prepared for the final race in the series - Steelman Ironmaiden (68.3KM).
