The Murray Quad is Australia’s official World Quadrathlon Federation (WQF) Quadrathlon a unique event that involves four disciplines, swimming, running, cycling and paddling over a challenging 141 km (88 mile) course from Yarrawonga to Tocumwal.
It all starts with a 3.2km swim on Lake Mulwala followed by a half marathon run along gravel walking tracks and two circuits of the world class Black Bull links golf course with exquisitely landscaped holes overlooking the picturesque Lake Mulwala, once competitors have completed the run they then transition to the bike for a 91km time trial cycle along country roads and a number of small rural towns through the area known as Victoria’s Food Bowl arriving in Cobram at Thompson Beach Australia’s largest inland beach for the final leg a downstream paddle on Australia’s largest river the Murray River to complete the grueling adventure in Tocumwal.
The winner is expected to complete the 141km journey in less than 7 hours and will be crowned the Australian Diamond Man with the first female not too far behind and for this time on known as the 2016 Australian Diamond women.
The event does not only cater for the elite athlete looking for a new challenge it also offers a fantastic opportunity for amateur sport enthusiast to complete in one of three entry options the full distance, a relay team of up to 8 people or just enter one of the individual disciplines in a separate race.
