Even before Cairns hosted the 1996 MTB World Championships, The iconic Triple RRR (Rural, Rainforest & Reef) cross country event was in its 5th year.
The Triple R mountain bike race is the longest running 'point to point' race in Australia. First run in 1991 the race has run consecutively for over 25 years. The event attracts a strong field of local, national and international entrants racing through North Queensland's diverse terrain each year, 2016 aims to increase entrant numbers and international exposure with the 35 km Classic RRR and a 70km Endurance RRR.
In this visually spectacular race, three diverse terrains are dominated.
