Run Clark Jackson’s Trails at XTERRA Charlottesville

Recently, we caught up with XTERRA Ambassador Clark Jackson to see how he was doing in his fight against cancer. Last year, Clark won his 60-64 age group at the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship at Kualoa Ranch. He continued to run throughout most of his treatment, and inspired all of us with his sense of humor and his commitment to finding joy in everything.

“I think my doctor thinks I’m crazy because they never had anyone to train through radiation treatment,” said Clark.

We are thrilled to report that he is feeling better after a couple of tough weeks.

“I spent a lot of time walking the floor and praying,” Clark said. “But I’m feeling better now and I’m starting to run again.”

His treatment is over and by October, he will learn if he is cancer free. The XTERRA Charlottesville Trail Run on May 20th will be Clark’s first race back, and we have no doubt he will be having fun and encouraging everyone around him. The 10K trail run consists of two 5K loops on a brand-new course at the Miller School in Albemarle, Virginia.

Clark has been running in the Charlottesville area for over 30 years, and his love of the sport and the trails is unmistakable. He’s shared a few of his favorite running spots with us:

Rivanna Trails – Beautiful trails around the city of Charlottesville.

Preddy Creek Trail Park – Located in Albemarle, these trails include 12 miles of steep running trails

Monticello Trails   – Visit a piece of history while running on a mix of trail, boardwalk, and packed stone.

Crozet Trails – Close to the race, with waterfalls and views, these trails have it all
