BRISBANE—Following up on successful events in February 2017, Australia’s National Off Road Triathlon Series will feature both an AquaBike and Duathlon formats at ALL seven TreX Events in 2017/18. The market has asked for it and TreX is delivering.
In2Adventure has long had a reputation for making every effort to listen to, and respond to feedback from competitors and this latest initiative to include both AquaBike and Duathlon formats at all seven TreX events in 2017/18 cpmes on the back of trial events in 2016/17.
The TreX Series will still feature the dedicated duathlon event as Race 1 on 20th August with a Trail Run | MTB | Trail Run format, however now participants have the option at EVERY TreX event to take part in either a duathlon format that will include a Mountain Bike and then Trail Run or an AquaBike format with a Swim and Mountain Bike.
Event Director Robyn Lazenby told us that these new initiatives have been launched in response to market feedback and trial events in 2016/17. They are also strongly driven by In2Adventure’s corporate principle of ‘Participation’.
“We are always looking to our competitors for their ideas and feedback and the TreX Series as it stands today, ten years after we launched the series in Australia is a result of always trying to make every effort to listen to, and more importantly ACT on competitors feedback.
We were aware that the run element of a triathlon can for some people be a barrier to participation, especially for those who have experienced knee or ankle injuries in their sporting career.
The AquaBike format means that those who perhaps have an injury and are unable to run can still take part in a TreX event.
In terms of the duathlon, one of TreX key market demographics are our mountain bikers looking to use their skills but to do something a little bit different. The swim is often a barrier to entry for this section of the market, so what the duathlon format provides is an opportunity to come along and discover the thrill of Off Road triathlon racing and hopefully then provide the incentive to put a ‘toe in the water’ so to speak,”
With the introduction of the duathlon and aquabike format in 2017/18 as well as offering Standard, Sprint, Junior, Teaser and Dirt Kids Courses Australia’s home grown off road series is offering an opportunity for all comers to be a part of Australia’s most exciting sport.
