XTERRA Jurassic Trail Run

If you happened to be in Dinosaur Valley State Park, in Glen Rose Texas on Saturday night, you might have thought you heard the echos of dinosaurs running by.

The XTERRA Jurassic Trail Run – a nightime event – garnered over 100 runners who thundered over the trails, braving the roots, steep hills, and a river crossing.

“We had great weather and a beautiful full moon,” said race director, Kathy Duryea.  “Many of the half-marathoners were surprised at how hard and rocky the course was, but I think the biggest challenge of all was running it at night.”

Jason Wallace was the men’s champ in the 15K, winning by about five minutes with a time of 1:28:00. Paola Lopez was the women’s 15K champ, breaking the tape in 2:04:02.

In the half marathon, Sam Berger impressed with 1:09:39, winning the race by over 15 minutes. Emma Kosciak also won handily with a time of 2:14:35.

Next up in the XTERRA Texas Trail Run Series is the XTERRA Magnolia Hill Trail Run on July 16th.
