Bring Your Bear Spray to XTERRA Canmore!

On August 6th, 2017, XTERRA heads to one of the most spectacular spots in the Canadian Rockies.

XTERRA Canmore features both full and sprint distance triathlons and duathlons on a former Olympic venue. Full distance triathlon athletes will be competing for 15 age-group slots at the XTERRA World Championship in Maui this October.

  • Full Distance Triathlon – Swim 1500m – Bike 22km – Run 10km
  • Sprint Distance Triathlon – Swim 500m – Bike 14km – Run 5km
  • Full Distance Duathlon – Run 3.5km – Bike 22km – Run 10km
  • Sprint Distance Duathlon – Run 3km – Bike 14km – Run 5km?

Race director Tony Smith redesigned the already top-notch course this year. “It’s going to be epic,” said Smith. “For the 10th anniversary of XTERRA Canmore, we decided to make the bike course just a little more spicy.”

Smith expects a record turnout and already has athletes registered from South Africa, Australia, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, and the UK.

The Canmore Nordic Centre has developed and mandated a new bear spray policy for all events, which requires participants to carry bear spray while on the bike and run courses.
