XTERRA Fort Yargo Trail Run Gives Back

The XTERRA Fort Yargo 8.75 and 3.1 Mile Trail Runs are more than just a good time. Now, they are also a chance to do some good. Proceeds from the XTERRA Fort Yargo Trail Runs on October 14th will go towards helping the Yargo Trail Crew raise $3500 to purchase new equipment so they can continue their volunteer efforts.

“The Yargo Trail Crew put in 80 hours of work the week after Hurricane Irma and cleared the trails of more than 130 downed trees,” said race director, Tim Schroer. “They have blown the trails so they are in pristine condition right now. In return of their efforts we are trying to help them raise $3,500 to purchase new equipment.”

Some of the equipment on the Yargo Trail Crew’s list include:

    1 Backpack blower – BR700 Stihl $500 4 McLeod’s – $53 each 6 Rogue Hoes – $48 each 1 20 in bar chain saw – $420 1 Hedge Trimer extended reach – $450 Fuel and oil for equipment – $100 1 Used Honda Recon 250 – $1500

“We are a volunteer organization and just passionate about trails,” said Brandon Mitchell, president of the Yargo Trail Crew. Mitchell is also an avid mountain biker and a science teacher at Winder Barrow High School in Winder, Georgia.
