Two World Champions confirmed for JetBlack WSMTB 12 Hour endurance race

The JetBlack WSMTB 12 Hour mountain bike endurance race will be held at the infamous Dargle Farm property near Windsor, hosted by the Western Sydney Mountain Bike Club. For the 2013 event on 10 August the reigning 24-Hour Solo Male and Female World Champions, Jason English from Port Macquarie (NSW) and Jessica Douglas from Forest (VIC), have just confirmed that they will be defending their current Solo Elite titles at the popular venue, for which organisers from Rocky Trail Entertainment were able to secure the exclusive racing rights again this year.

Once a year the lush meadows of Dargle Farm are transformed into a pumping mountain bike race event centre and for the 2013 event more than 400 riders are expected to compete in the 12-hour endurance event in Western Sydney.

One of the big favourites in the women’s elite solo category is Jessica Douglas, one of the most successful female endurance mountain bike racers in Australia and winner of the event last year. “I just had so much fun last year – the vibe in the event centre, the music and the atmosphere and friendly people out on track were what impressed me the most”, commented Jessica Douglas on her return to the race in 2012. “It’s one of those races that are just different – it’s very social and enjoyable bundled with a good deal of exciting competition at a really unique venue in Sydney”, she said, adding that the event is part of her training regime for the upcoming 24-Hour Solo World Championships in Canberra in October this year.

Jason English racing to claim fourth consecutive title
Jessica’s fellow endurance champion Jason English has won the Solo Elite category at the JetBlack WSMTB 12 Hour for three years in a row since 2010 and will be at the start line to defend his long-standing title as well. One of his strongest competitors will be the Canberran endurance racer Andrew Hall, runner up to English in both 2012 and 2011. Andrew Hall has already confirmed his attendance to challenge English for the victory this year.

Single-speed legend Brett Bellchambers will also race at Dargle Farm and is set to continue his 3 year-dominance at the JetBlack WSMTB 12 Hour event’s singlespeed racing category.

Riders can participate in the individual “solo” categories and also race in teams of two and four. For the 2013 event a new team of threes category will be added and the popular “social six-rider classification” is on offer again also.
