Qld X-Tri Champs & MultiSport Festival (2/3 May) Rescheduled to 23/24 May Due to Extreme Weather Conditions

During the week we have been monitoring weather conditions in the lead up to the Qld X-Tri Champs & MultiSport Festival in Landsborough.  Earlier in the week the forecast was for rain on Wednesday/Thursday with conditions easing on Friday and into the weekend.  During the week the forecast gradually changed with the predicted conditions worsening and pushing into Friday and Saturday.

Overnight the forecast conditions have worsened and the I2A Team have been working on the contingency plan to reschedule the event. An initial flood watch warning was been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology with catchments at risk including Noosa, Maroochy, Mooloolah and tributaries of the Brisbane River with 200-400mm of rain estimated over coastal catchment areas. Based on this forecast and in consultation with National Parks and Ewen Maddock Camp we have made the difficult decision to reschedule the event this weekend.

Why Has this Decision Been Made?

Two key factors have driven the decision making process.

1. Environmental Responsibility

At In 2 Adventure we enjoy a bit of mud, however, this love of adventure is also measured against environmental considerations.  National Parks and volunteers have put a lot of time and effort in the development of the trails in Beerwah State Forest and with the nature of the event (ie a lapped course), the significant impact on the environment and the damage that would be caused to the trails would not be acceptable or in line with our company principles or policies.

The weather is expected to improve on Saturday afternoon and Sunday, however, the amount of rain expected to fall prior to this means the trails would not have an opportunity to dry out.

2. Participant Experience & Safety

We value the experience that participants take away from our events and we believe that the forecast conditions and the impact the rain will have on the trails  would not make for an enjoyable or safe event for most people involved.

Why has this Decision only been made today?

As outlined above, earlier forecasts indicated that the rain would come earlier in the week and the forecast was still indicating ‘possible’ rain.  This has now changed to the forecast outlined above and at this time the decision was made.  It is still possible that the forecasted rain might not eventuate, however, the decision has been made based on the best information available at the time.

Reschedule Date: 23rd & 24th May, 2015

The event has been rescheduled to 23rd & 24th May, 2015.  As per the EVENT REFUND POLICY all entries and accommodation & camping bookings will be automatically transferred to the new date.

Decisions like this are very difficult as they have a significant impact for our business, and we understand that it will be disappointing for those looking forward to the event, however, we have made this decision based on the best available information and, we believe, in the best interest of our customers.

We hope this helps explain why such a major decision has been taken and we thank you in advance for your understanding.

Regards

The In 2 Adventure Team
