Stop 4 for DeSantis on 16 in 16 Tour

The Philippines, South Africa, Costa Rica, and this weekend…Malta.

Reigning XTERRA Warrior Award winner and cancer survivor David DeSantis will race in his fourth XTERRA World Tour event on Sunday in the Mediterranean Sea and although he’s not yet one-quarter of the way through his ambitious 16 races in 16 countries quest to raise $16,000 for the Challenged Athletes Foundation, DeSantis has already raised more than $11,000.

“It’s a very honorable move of David to do this. It’s a great story” said Andre Szucs, a below-the-knee amputee a beneficiary of the support Challenged Athletes Foundation provides. “Because of people like him we can do what we do!”

Caitlin Snow, an Ironman star who did her first XTERRA in Costa Rica earlier this month on the urging of DeSantis, a family friend, started a grand idea to donate $16 after every race he finishes.

“A bunch of friends are taking Cait’s advice and donating $16 per race and it’s all adding up nicely,” exclaimed DeSantis, who placed 2nd in his division at XTERRA Costa Rica and said he “had a blast” doing it.
