postheadericon Skywalker 10hr Rogaine - May the 4th 2024

The May event will be a 10 hour event, with no camping, going from 10am to 8pm. It is within an hour drive of Perth.

Entries are open and will close the Sunday midnight 6 days prior to the event. (We can leave entries open closer to the date when we're not running a full HH food order).

The setters will need collecting controls on the Sunday after the event. Please email setter Alan Kerr if you are able to help at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

From the setters:

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... well not too far from the SE edge of Perth actually.

Rogaining Jedi Masters, join us for this May the 4th Rogaine. *

The hash house site is nicely nestled into the bush – although competitors won't be able to camp overnight unfortunately, as it is entirely in a water catchment area. Due to the limited parking space, please leave trailers at home, and consider travelling with others. Drive in, do the rogaine and drive out again (unless you are helping collect controls next morning).

The course is all in bushland with an A3 map at 1:50,000. There are plenty of controls within a reachable distance for beginners and families. If you find some of the controls are hard to get to, perhaps 'These aren't the controls you're looking for'.

Or are you the Rogaining Jedi Master who could make the run in less than 12 parsecs? If so, there are further opportunities for more ambitious rogainers; controls are set up to 500 metres above sea level – great view if you can get to the high ground.

Though rogainers don't usually hope for rain – the catchment hasn't caught any rain for a while and is looking parched. While setting the course, we saw a range of wildlife – kangaroos, emus and (just one) dugite. The bush isn't too thick if creek beds and swamps don't count! Lots of roads and tracks in various stages of disrepair. There is something for everyone.

Do, or do not. There is no 'try'.

postheadericon 2024 Australasian Rogaine Champs

Introducing....

The Mysterious Traveller Rogaine

The 2024 Australasian Rogaine Championships will be hosted in WA on the weekend of 7th and 8th September 2024.

Where is the Mysterious Traveller?  A mask, an old logging village, a Melburnian forester, and ochre springs.  We may need to navigate complex river valleys (150m a.s.l. to 300m a.s.l.).  There may be a few pines, but we are mostly in stunning Jarrah - Marri - Blackbutt forest.  We leave the open Nannup farmlands of 2016 far behind. We have a very easy trip here - less than 3hrs southish of Perth and less than 1hr Bunbury.  For all travellers, far, near, mysterious or not, the Event Bus will take you on a magical tour from the airport to the event via a replenishing town.  The Setting and Vetting team look forward to showing you some topographical mysteries!

February update - a revision to the location - now 3hrs south of Perth.

Student team sponsorships are available via the Nigel Aylott Memorial Sports Foundation, with details below.

postheadericon What is Rogaining?

Rogaining is the sport of long distance cross-country navigation in which teams of two to five members visit as many checkpoints as possible in twenty-four hours. Teams travel entirely on foot, navigating by map and compass between checkpoints in terrain that varies from open farmland to hilly forest. A central base camp provides hot meals throughout the event and teams may return at any time to eat, rest or sleep. Teams travel at their own pace and anyone from children to grandparents can experience the personal satisfaction that comes from cross-country navigation at their own level of competition and comfort.

postheadericon Volunteering:- your association needs you!

Volunteering is part and parcel of the culture of rogaining in WA. Unlike many other states, the WA rogaining association has been able to keep prices low and event quality high by the many members who every so often kindly forego an event to help out with administration, hash house, setting, vetting, first aid, or truck driving duties.

People step forward for the event roles usually in the last few weeks leading up to the event which is alway very much appreciated.
