Welcome to Warburton Trail Fest, a three day celebration of all things trail and mountain lifestyle featuring a bunch of trail runs from 5km through 50, day and night, flat and fast plus and stupidly steep; plus enjoy a feature film screening, a trail seminar, live music and in a World First… the inaugural Lilo Dash ‘n Derby where trail running meets watersports.
Enter one event, or enter them all to be considered for the multiday madness crown (win and you are considered the maddest trail runner in town).
The best thing is that the host locations, Warburton Valley, is only an hour and a half from Melbourne’s CBD, and is centred on the quaint valley township of Warburton with all its quality cafes and accommodation making it the perfect long running weekend getaway for all the family.
Even better for the hardcore, the festival features the state’s best-known and closest vertical kilometre run – a knarly 1000m-plus climb in only 12km (the ascending is actually done in under 8km, but the course then stretches along the Yarra River some). Of course, you have to run down again in what we have dubbed the ‘Donna Double’ which is in effect three events in one with a winner overall plus a Lactic Legs winner for the climb only section and a winner for Da Bomb…the fastest over the downhill section only (but either way you have to complete both legs).
