SNOWY MTNS, NSW | Ivory and Mullens Capture Stage 1 of the Snowies Mountain Bike Festival

The fifth instalment of the Snowies Mountain Bike Festival kicked off on beautiful Lake Jindabyne this morning and it was a hard and fast 16.2k race to the finish line.

Our very own Man from Snowy River lead riders into Stage 1 Lake 2 Lake after a showstopping performance from his horse Illouise.  The race between bike and horse power was on as the riders exploded into a frenzy of 7.8km of heart pumping single track traversing spectacular Lake Jindabyne.

It was Jon Odams (15:00:96) and Zoe Cuthbert (16:54:03) who recorded the fastest times on the  7.5k Hatchery Bay leg, but the 8.7k return to Claypits Park saw Cameron Ivory (16:24:48) and Peta Mullens (18:09:55) at the top of the field.  After times were combined Cameron Ivory (31:25:56) and Peta Mullens (35:10:55) took line honours for Stage 1, donning the GC Leaders Jersey as they headed into Stage 2.

Jon Odams (31:26:20) and Renata Bucher (35:20:20) fought valiantly to claim second spot.  And Andy Blair (31:27:45) and Christy Henderson (35:55:27) rounded out the podium with an energetic exhibition of mountain biking performance.

Riders then returned to the 4.5 star luxury of Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa where the action continues into the heart pumping Stage 2 Happy Hour time trial at 4pm.
