SNOWY MTNS, NSW | As the Thunder Roared Peta Mullens and Cameron Ivory Shone at Stage 2 of the Snowies Mountain Bike Festival
The Snowies Mountain Bike Festival continued into stage two, hosted at the spectacular Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa, and as riders tackled all the fury that the High Country could throw at them, Mullens and Ivory continued to maintain a narrow lead heading heading into day two.
Starting at 30 second intervals riders exploded into the Happy Hour Time Trial, a 5.6km course traversing the Little Thredbo River and the surrounds of Kosciuszko National Park. Legs were screaming, hearts were thumping and crowds were cheering as riders tackled all the Snowies High Country to offer.
Peter Mullens took the stage for the females in a time of 16:39:90 with Cameron Ivory taking the honours for the men in a time of 13:55:84.
Andy Blair and Zoe Cuthbert recorded a strong second place, and Dean Cane and Cristy Henderson rounded out the podium.
In the overall GC standings Ivory heads into day two with a 6 sec lead from Andy Blair and Mathew Dinnum currently in third, 28 sec behind. Mullens leads the female field from Renata Bucher with a 54 sec lead, with Cristy Henderson in third, 1:26 off the pace.
