GZ Pure is the ultimate expedition adventure racing experience with unsupported teams travelling approximately 600km across New Zealand’s wilderness for up to 10 days.
The GZ Pursuit event takes the existing GODZone concept and makes some subtle changes that creates an exciting new racing experience and opens the door to a wider range of expedition adventure racers. For some in New Zealand, this event will have a flavour of the old Southern Traverse, with the addition of support crews, and a slightly more social feel to the race – in the Transition Areas at least – but out on the course it will be very much a true GODZone experience, with teams taking on the best of New Zealand’s epic wilderness.
The course design is based around the GZ Pure course with some subtle changes. When GZ Pursuit teams arrive at transition areas they will have the benefit of a support crew to keep them fed, watered and organised. The course distance is shorter than GZ Pure and navigationally easier, but teams may well just race harder.
