The Willo is one of Australia's top mountain bike events.
Originally based in the Southern Highlands in NSW, this Edition of the The Willo will take place at Coondoo State Forest in Nowra. The original home of the race is at Wingello, however, the trails were badly damaged from the 2019-20 summer bushfires and the local club, Forest Corporation NSW and volunteer groups have done an amazing job trying to remediate the network. This year's wet weather, however, brought more damage and significantly slowed down the progress. Wingello State Forest is still closed.
The trails at Coondoo State Forest are great and have been on Rocky Trail's calendar for years! This will be a lap-based classic marathon race featuring a race track loaded with single trail goodness and fast gravel road sections.
The race circuit is a loop and there are various distance classifications across adult and junior age groups, plus a dedicated race loop for young athletes plus fun races for little riders in the event centre.
This is a marathon race unlike any other. Every race participant will be instantly taken by the professional yet relaxed and friendly nature of the race. This in fact does reflect on James Williamson, the late Australian National Marathon Champion who the race is named after and will celebrate the camaraderie that mountain biking brings for all.
