Entries NOW OPEN for the last ever Augusta Adventure Fest

Yes you read right, 2019 will be the last (and biggest!) Augusta Adventure Fest, to be held on 2-3 November.

Rapid Ascent made the formal decision to return to the ‘original’ format and declare 2019 the finale for the Augusta Adventure Fest due to declining participant numbers in recent years.

We tried a different format for the event in 2018 to try and boost registrations. Unfortunately, this change proved unpopular and saw participation numbers drop further than previous years.

Our aim is to make 2019 the biggest one yet and crystalise the spirit of the race. And we’re super excited to announce entries are now open. You won’t want to miss the ‘last hurrah.’

“We would like to thank the Augusta community and participants for the considerable support they have shown the event for the last 10 years. From volunteering at transition areas and providing water safety at sea to renting houses for accommodation and serving food in restaurants, you have always been there for us and we appreciate that,” said Rapid Ascent General Manager, Sam Maffett.

“This is obviously a decision that wasn’t made lightly. The event was very successful for many years and was a marquee event for Rapid Ascent and for the region. We now feel it is time to move on though. We are proud of the event we all conducted and hope the Augusta locals feel equally proud hosting an event that meant so much to so many”, Maffett added.

2019 will see Augusta return to its original (more popular) format and timetable, including the traditional non-stop Augusta Premier Adventure Race—beginning with the iconic run below Cape Leeuwin lighthouse. With the Augusta MINI Adventure Race, and Junior Survivor happening Saturday this will build as one of the best Augusta events on record.

Rapid Ascent encourages the local community of Augusta to unite and ensure the last ever Augusta Adventure Fest is the best one yet. We want it remembered as an awesome adventure weekend and a true classic. It’s also a chance to say thank you to loyal sponsors who’ve supported the event since 2006.

Not to mention local councils and Tourism Western Australia and the Augusta warriors who’ve tackled the event in the past, or might be doing so for the first time in 2019.
