New E-Bike Event at Sunshine Coast MultiSport Festival

In2Adventure are pleased to announce that a new standalone E-Bike event will be introduced as part of the Sunshine Coast MultiSport Festival on 24 October.

The event will be a standalone participation event hosted on Saturday after the main race. E-MTB riders will tackle 3 laps of the 9.5km course to complete a total of 28.5km on the day.

The 9.5km course is an action packed lap that dives in and out of the ferned rainforest with flowing single track trails.  New riders will enjoy the flowing nature of the course, while more experienced riders will love the pinchy climbs, creek crossings, bridges and roll overs. If youre not too tired to look, youll also enjoy the panoramic views across Ewen Maddock Dam along the way.

Hosted after the main race, this event is an opportunity for riders to come along and enjoy the thrill of the Sunshine Coast MTB festival in the company of other E-Bike riders.  Its a non-competitive event, however, event times will be posted so participants can compare their times with other riders after the days ride.

Why an E-Bike Event?

E-Bikes have been a topic of interest over the few years and despite not permitting e-bikes in competitive events, In2Adventure recognise that e-bikes do fill a place in the mountain bike community. E-Bikes have provided an opportunity for those who may be a bit older, or recovering from injury to continue to enjoy the outdoors on a bike.  Since the impact of COVID-19, there are also a lot of people who have tentatively ventured out for the first time into the outdoors on an e-bike.

Hosting a standalone event provides an opportunity for these riders to be a part of the wider MTB community.  For new riders its an opportunity to experience what its like to be a part of a mountain bike event and to meet and learn from others in the MTB community.  And for riders who have turned to e-biking as a way to continue the sport they love, it provides an opportunity for them to continue to be a part of the event community and the In2Adventure family.

The team at In2Adventure fully understand after spending a lot of time talking to riders and staying across the many discussions on various forums that E-Bikes are a very contaversial topic, particularly when it comes to events.  Its understood that some may question a decision to include an e-bike event, however, it is believed that hosting a participation, standalone event is a good way to embrace the middle ground between ensuring riders who are riding under their own power are not impacted by powered bikes and have the opportunity for a fair and safe race, and providing an opportunity for those who, due to personal circumcumstances have made the decision to continue riding on an ebike to participate.

This is a trial event, and no doubt, lots will be learnt from hosting the event for the first time and listening to feedback, but the team look forward to this new concept and especially to welcoming new riders to their In2Adventure family as they continue to embrace the most important of their three key principles, Participation.

How do I Get In 2 It?

Entries will open on Tuesday 18 August with a One Day Opening Special to be announced this week, but be quick as number are limited due to Covid-19 limitations.
