Tussock Traverse

The Tussock Traverse is a 27km run or walk. The course begins approximately 6kms up the Tukino Road in the Rangipo Desert (entrance off the Desert Road, SH1) with a long hard climb straight up.

From there it's a mixture of rock hopping, lava field, desert, alpine track (the views are amazing), and beech forest before finishing beside the Chateau Tongariro in Whakapapa for a rest and a BBQ.

In order to preserve this fragile and unique environment, the event entrants are limited to only 400 so get your entry in early!
