Now in its third successful year, the Around the Island Canoe Race has opted to become part of the Pacific Ocean Series, which will run from 1 st May to 26th January and will be made up of seven races along SE Queensland and Byron Bay with the aim of encouraging participation from beginners to elite paddlers. While all levels of paddler will be encouraged to participate in every race, the first three races of the series are designed to help introduce paddlers into the sport of ocean racing. And the Macleay Island Race is the first event !
Paddlers starting at the Tingira Boat Club, 91 Coast Rd, Macleay Island, will circumnavigate the Island returning to the Boat Club, a journey of about 15km.
