The Defi returns to Canterbury High Country in 2012 on April the 7th. Terrace Downs High End Destination Resort will again host one of New Zealand’s most challenging yet stunning multisport events. Competitors from throughout New Zealand traveled to the resort last year to both compete and complete this unique four discipline course.
Competitors will again begin the race with a 30 kilometre mountain bike through private high country property before beginning the 37 kilometre grade two Rakaia Gorge kayak, a long boat paddler’s dream, with boils, wave trains and numerous braids to keep paddlers thinking. A 45 kilomtere road cycle awaits competitors following the paddle with a couple of climbs which will definitely test the granny gear. The final run stage follows a river terrace single track allowing competitors to check out the lines they previously paddled, before entering the back of the resort for a final dash to the finish line.
