Far North Orienteering are hosting the Inaugural Mountain Bike Orienteering (MTBO) event in the McKenzie Pocket State Forest with a bush setting on forest tracks and trails.
The McKenzie Pocket State Forest,30 minutes from Cairns, has an intricate network of tracks, trails and paths that are ideal for mountain bike orienteering. The forest is slowly drying out after all the rain recently so hopefully by late June tracks will be as fast as!
gentle undulations would accurately describe the course area; 14 metres is the elevation difference over the course.
There will be 3 courses on offer:
Approx 12km – 70 minutes of pedalling,
Approx 18km – 100 minutes of pedalling,
Approx 25km – 140 minutes of pedalling.
