2014/5 National MTB Season DH #2 - Thredbo...

As Downhill's first National Series event of the 2015, what better way to kick off the racing than taking on the iconic Cannonball course.

Thredbo has played host to an endless list of MTB events since the early 1990’s and has been a stop on the National circuit in nearly every year since. Thredbo is renowned for its cracking DH track, chairlift access and the amazing village that is only a stones throw from the mountain.

Thredbo is Australia's premier Alpine Resort. Located at the heart of the Australian Alps and situated only 6km from the peak of Australia's highest mountain, Mt Kosciuszko, it operates 365 days a year and boasts the best alpine terrain in the country. Established in 1957, the only alpine resort in Australia to celebrate over 50 years of operation, Thredbo is the essence of Alpine Australia, with such history it has created a culture and community unlike any other resort in the country.

COURSE-
Thredbo is a true downhill course. Starting 1900m above sea level, the Cannonball DH drops 600m vertically over 3kms to create the most physically demanding track of the national circuit. Setting out from Eagles Nest, riders drop straight into high speed single-track littered with off-camber turns, fast rock gardens and technical wood sections. As the riders descend lower into the valley, the Cannonball DH gets even faster with huge berms, wall-rides and some decent sized kickers. Be sure to see Thredbo separate the men from the boys!
