Calling ALL cyclists! Have you ever stood in front of your bikes wondering which one to take out for a spin? Or, maybe you’ve been left sitting at home while your friends headed off to events requiring the type of bike you don’t own?

Whether your ride of choice is the solid structure and knobbly wheels of the MTB, the stealth speed and grace of the roadie, or both, the latest event from Wild Horizons is sure to excite – finally, a race that offers something for everyone who loves two (human-powered) wheels.

Wild Horizons is excited to present a new concept in cycle racing: Rock&Road. Complete part of the course on your road bike, then swap to your MTB to bring it home. Or team up with a friend who rides the opposite cycling disciple to you and race as a duo.

Road racing over a course of bitumen roads, plus single track and fire roads for the MTB, you get to play to your strengths and enjoy the best of both worlds.

The inaugural Rock&Road (R&R) race will be held in and around the picturesque village of Rydal, west of the Blue Mountains and approximately 2-hours drive from Sydney on Sunday the 17th May 2015

Rydal has the perfect combination of access to Lidsdale State Forest with great trails built by Central Tablelands MTB club for the ‘Rock’ section, and picturesque country roads stretching to Sodwalls, Tarana and beyond for the ‘Road’ section.

There will be two race routes to cater for different levels.

The MAX R&R will see riders take on 80km of road, followed by 40km of rock (well, dirt really, but we’re working a theme here). While those looking for a little less time in the saddle can enter the MINI R&R consisting of 40km road and 25km on the MTB.

And for those who only ride road, or mountain, there’s the duo option – choose your strength and your partner and race to win. Both ride both? You can still be a duo but you’ll have to flip a coin to see who rides the road, and who rides the rock.
