The Goat Race traverses the legendary Croesus Crossing track from Barrytown to Blackball. This is a 25km long mountain trail running race and is an individual pursuit event, open to anyone over the age of 14. The track has a long history dating back to the late 1860's when gold was first discovered on the West Coast. It has a total accent of 1054 metres and has a maximum elevation of 1201 metres. The Paparoa Range trail remains a popular walking track and has had an extensive upgrade over the past couple of years. The 2014 race will be the first time it’s been used for the Goat Race across Croesus Crossing since the work was carried by the Department of Conservation.
