Welcome to the 11th Annual Run the Great Whitsunday Trail
This event was formerly known as Run the Whitsunday Great Walk, which was the inspiration of the Mackay Road Rnners. The event is now organised by Whitsunday Running Club who also organise the popular Airlie Beach Running festival in July.
The iconic course is a challenging 28.7 km through some of the best rainforest in North Queensland, traversing the Conway Ranges National Park via the Conway Circuit, with varying surfaces. Prepare to be challenged, but rewarded, and you will want to return.
The introduction of the 57.4km Ultra in 2016 proved so popular that it is now firmly placed on the event calendar, and travels the 28.7km course in an out and back loop.
Maximum time for the 57.4km Ultra will be 8rs 30mins and for the 28.7km it will be 5hrs 30mins.
It is imperative that runners accept that it is a challenging trail and should train appropriately. It is a requirement when registering that you provide the name of a similar event within the previous 18 months, and your time for that event. The introduction of the Kids 2km trail run and the Rookies 4.5km trail run, will bring a new dimension to the event weekend, providing something for the whole family.
