Fedhealth XTERRA Kids take Nelson Mandela Bay by Storm

The picturesque Kings Beach was a hub of excitement on Friday with eager junior adventure seekers lining up to partake in the Fedhealth XTERRA Kids Nelson Mandela Bay.

“The Fedhealth XTERRA Kids Race was the perfect ice breaker for a weekend of action packed XTERRA racing,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports.  “XTERRA is all about fitness, fun and most importantly family.  We are thankful to all parents for making it possible for their children to be part of the experience.  It was truly heart-warming to see the joy on the faces of each and every entrant. ”

Says Jeremy Yatt, Principal Officer of Fedhealth: “It’s always with great excitement that we welcome kids at our Fedhealth XTERRA events. Physical exercise is a major part of a healthy childhood, and when Mom and Dad can also join in the fun, there’s the added benefit of spending quality family time together. Our Nelson Mandela Bay event offered a wonderful day (and weekend) out, for both the young and the young at heart.”

Junior XTERR Warriors could choose between three age group categories when entering the Fedhealth XTERRA Kids Race: 6-8 years (50m Swim, 1,5km Cycle, 1km Run), 9-11 years (100m Swim, 5km Cycle, 2km Run), and

12-15 years (200m Swim, 10km Cycle, 3km Run).

Lisa De Villiers (age category 6 – 8 years), made her XTERRA debut on the day.  “Today was nice.  I really enjoyed the swim and mountain bike leg.  I was very happy to cross the finish line.”

Francois De Villiers (age category 12 – 15 years), enjoyed the swim leg the most.  “I’m not a strong swimmer, but I really enjoyed the swim because I did well today.  I enjoyed the event.  It was very nice winning.”

Zac Fletcher (age category 9 – 11 years) had a good race.  “I really liked the mountain bike leg,” says a very happy Zac.  “I had a good race and really enjoyed the XTERRA.”
