Spiny Cay
The Spiny Cray Ultra is the final event in the Dirty Northern Trail Series (along with the Speewah Legend Footrace and The Gold Rush Trail Marathon). These events were created to help fill a gap in the Far North Queensland Endurance Sport Calendar created by a distinct lack of quality trail and off road running experiences. While the long running and successful Pyramid Race has given NQ runners a great trail hit out for the last 50+ years, five years ago there was no other real trail running events up this way. Now there's a rapidly growing and keen trail running community and an absolute dirty smorgasbord of events with the Bustard Express and the Dirty 30 Sweaty 60 joining the Dirty Northern Trail Runs, the Kuranda Train Race chugging away and the Cairns Road Runners putting on some good tough off-road runs.
